What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Well -still waiting for mediation
Would i be best to book a solicitor mediator?
I was advised to bk these due to them being able to provide legal information to us both.
That they are trained to give legal information but not legal advice. They are oblidged to tell us if you are about to make an agreement that would be very different to what a court would award.
What did other people find through their experiences?
Aware solicitor mediators are a lot more expensive but if they can provide the valuable information then maybe that will be cheaper than the court route?
