What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hello, My name is Robert Meyers I am an American that married a British woman named Julie Marsden in November 2008. I had to leave in 2010 for what I felt was unreasonable behavior. I don''t know if she ever filed for a divorce or not and need to find out if she did or if I have to.
Thanks for any help in this matter.

Not an easy question, but the English Courts will make sure that the Petition comes to the notice of the other party. Ideally, this should be personal service but sometimes the Court will allow service on friends, family, employers. If you haven''t heard you are still probably in the holy estate of matrimony ; but I''d suggest that you try the Salvation Army if you want to make contact with your (ex) wife.
