What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

i''ve had a case conference with a public access barrister today ( he represented me 2 years ago at the final l hearing) he remembered the exact details of the final hearing down to the shifty x and felt bit disappointed with the final judgement although i was happy with the outcome ( much better then had i not gone to court). anyway for £300 fee i negotiated with his clerk he did an appraisal of my existing applications and gave me advice on what to expect at the hearing, how to present my evidence and his opinion on how the circuit judge would respond. he also said i could email him any further questions but obviously not bombard him. he gave an impartial view and told me what i should concentrate on. it was well worth the fee, i feel much less stressed and more confident as lip to progress my case without feeling intimidated by x''s sol. on the subject of x''s solicitor had a uplifting experience when serving summons on x''s solicitor this week, a professional who has sent many inflammatory, intimidating and aggressive letters to me over the last 19 months...i thought he was going to lick my boots when it came to being face to face, it reminded me of the wizard of OZ...
