What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Unable to pay counsel''s fees in a lump sum

Today I have received a fee note for the counsel''s services (FDA) rendered in April this year. As the court left me with nothing, and I am the only working parent to my 5 year old daughter (her father is not paying any maintenance, I am repaying the debts for the legal fees, etc) I am unable to pay the outstanding sun in a lump sum.
Is it possible to write to the chambers and ask for a monthly installment plan? Has anyone had this experience?

thank you

I have no experience of this but I am sure that your first action should be to contact the chambers and explain the situation.
I am sure they would rather have the payment in instalments than not at all.

Some payment is better than no payment. Telephone counsel''s clerk or the fees clerk if there is one and explain your position and tell them you are making a payment straight away or on whatever date you can and ensure you are good for your word.
