Hi all,
I became a victim of Domestic Violence and reported many incidents to my GP who then recorded all in medical notes. When I needed a letter from my GP explaining my dv , my GP asked me to go to the Lead of GP to get the letter.
So I met Lead of GP and gave me a letter after reading my medical notes. The letter signed by Lead of GP above the Name of my GP's name. i.e. say, My GP name is Mr. SXXXXR..who did not sign but Signed by Lead of GP , MR. MxxxxxM.. I also was charged a nominal fee .

Then after some months I needed an other letter so that I requested the letter and was given by the same Lead of GP , putting his signature and official stamp on the letter. So its confirm that the letter was issued by Lead of GP. In this letter , Lead of GP , mentioned confirming that the earlier letter was issued by my GP ,Mr.SXXXXR ,even though my GP ddnt sign that letter.

In the 2 letters , we can see , 2 GPs names with same signatures (only Lead of GP's sign). I need send these letters to the court . I dont have a solicitor for my family case. What I want to clarify and confirm ;

1. does the Lead of GP has authority to sign other Doctors letter who works in his Clinic are legally acceptable ?

2. will this signatures of Lead of GP in two letters make my case against partner , create any suspicion of Genuineness or invalidity of letters ?

Please advise

As long as the letter comes from the same practice, it shouldn't be an issue.

And yes, the Lead GP/Practice Manager can sign letters on behalf or other staff - that isn't uncommon.

Yes the lead GP can sign

Even if letters are signed by different doctors in same practice it's not unusual.

All correspondence should will on the practice computer so can easily be verified. I am guessing a court has the power to verify it.

I have just done the same has you, I have asked my GP to write a letter and just photo copied the financial page where by it says about DV I personally would take a photo copy of the letter just incase court lose them. So you have your own copy, better to be safe than sorry. I was seen by emergency doctor, but im sure my GP or any doctor who signs doesn't matter. It is also on my medical notes DV I hope it goes well for you in court. I have found out my DV husband has now got cancer stage 4 and worried sick that what ever he has done to me will be discarded, because he didn't really hit me, just grab and throw things at me. verbal etc. Please can you let me know how you get on.
