What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi,

I have my FDA next week, however the solicitors bills are really starting to get on top of me. It's getting to the point where I may have to ask the solicitor if I can pay costs out of my settlement.

Does anyone have any experiecne of this? Will solicitors let you stack bills?

With over £4k in bills over the last month, I'm really at my wits end on how to manage these constant bills coming through.

Some solicitors will do that but they don't have to agree as it's bad for cash flow. No harm in asking though.
