What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Basicly get everything on paper. all assests. Pensions, shares, ins policies (surrender value). house, pay put into big tub take out all debts then whats left begins at 50/50 if thats what your happy with then all wll be well. Are there any children involved if so then the % rises and goes to the person with the kids, the split can go as far as 70/30 in favour to has the kids. there are others on here who will be able to give you more advice so keep popping in :-)
