After getting lots of helpful information from the Wikivorce website, I asked them for a fixed-fee consent order. Their first referral was to a firm of lawyers they no longer use, who took three months to get nowhere. But Ruth at Wikivorce was supportive, kind and helpful, and transferred me to Brethertons who have seen the whole process through. I am glad to have this bit of my life over and am grateful to Wikivorce for helping me.
Wikivorce was recommended to me by a friend going through a messy divorce. I was really worried about costly solicitor fees and I didn’t need that additional stress in an already emotional situation. I spoke with Ian initially who was very patient and informative. I also spoke with Ruth who provided a lot of compassion and support. Nicola was the main person who dealt with my administration. Nicola is incredibly busy so don’t expect a quick response but when she does reply she gives you her full attention and you don’t feel rushed. The whole process took over 18 months from start to finish. The online Gov.uk process was incredibly quick!! The only real delay was from their recommended legal aid solicitors who abused the 10 day window for a reply.... but then again you don’t pay the big bucks and this isn’t a reflection on Wikivorce I just wanted to warn people it isn’t quick but it will get done eventually....! Good Luck to anyone going through Divorce - you can get through this and it will get better.
Just want to say thank you again for your time and input. I realize this is your job, but your support gives me strength to keep going in a horrible & lonely situation. What you do, makes a huge difference.
From the very first contact over the phone with Nicola she had a great combination of knowledge, assertiveness and empathy..... with an overriding ‘human touch’. This came at a time I really just needed to hear clearly how I was going to get prepped for my Final Hearing. Probably the 3 biggest things Nicola helped me with were: 1. supporting me with a ‘mini’ hearing over mortgage capacity in November...... my anxiety was through the roof and I had been so very ill & was recovering from Covid. 2. Writing up my S25..... this was crucial to my case and Nicolas expectations of what she needed from me and her re working it so the Judge had a very clear picture was second to none. 3. Introducing me to Tom Tyler an excellent Barrister I used during my Final Hearing. Simply cannot thank her enough - thank god there are option for Litigants in Person at a more reasonable cost..... thank you doesn’t quite feel enough.
Please could you forward our my huge thanks to Nicola Phipps and Tom Tyler for supporting my brother through his very difficult financial settlement proceedings following his divorce. We were so blessed to find Nicola through Wikivorce, if only we found her a year ago. She went the extra mile to achieve so much despite so little time. We are very grateful for her words of encouragement and thoughtful handling of my brothers’ situation – she’s priceless. It is what she did that stay forever. Nicola is a true asset to your organisation. I have no words but thanks, thanks and ever thanks.
Ruth from wikivorce helped me at a time when i felt crushed by an expensive lawyer who cost me a fortune but did not get me to decree nisi in 4 months, I was so traumatized i just had to trust her and pay her until I reached double the cost of her initial estimate. I had a PTSD and i spoke to various lawyers and could not find a way forward. I called wikivorce and someone spoke to me for an hour. I had lost all sense of hope and then I had someone who would actually help me, I then spoke to Ruth who listened to me and offered support, she emailed me, supported me and helped me in every way she could for free. Unbelievable after my traumatic experience with the previous lawyer. I bought 2 packages and one did not work out but still i was ahead because of Ruth's support BUT Brethertons was outstanding, I cannot praise them enough for what they did for me. I will use Brethertons anytime i need a lawyer moving forward. Ruth and Brethertons managed my entire divorce successfully, finally after almost of a year of trying to get divorced i am nearly there. There is no registry of good lawyers but Brethertons would be at the top of that list. No other online divorce site would support me in the way that Wikivorce and Ruth has done. Some other online sites which i expected to be similar i thought were exploitative. The government site on divorce is helpful also. It's worth having the knowledge.
I reluctantly paid for Wikivorce support when I was desperately trying to represent myself, but felt at a loss as to my next steps, I was anxious and financially struggling and couldn't afford support from a solicitor and at that time, it was a struggle to pay for Wikivorce support. I arranged a phone call with Nicola and we had an initial first consultation. From that first lengthy conversation, I felt as though I was back in charge and that I was going to be supported throughout the process. Nicola filled me with confidence and answered all my questions clearly and with an action plan of what I needed to do next. From feeling as though I couldn't do this any more, Nicola has kept me calm throughout the process and has reassured me, empowered me and championed me, going over and above to ensure I achieved the best outcome possible when I finally went to FDR. I know without a doubt that without Nicola, I would not have achieved such a great outcome and I cannot thank her enough. She's a fountain of knowledge and compared to what I would have paid for with a solicitor, I have saved an absolute fortune. I cannot recommend Nicola enough, I am eternally grateful that she was there for me.
Nicola, You are wonderfully kind and I'm so very grateful for having had your advice and guidance in this, but more so that you have made me feel like a human! Thank you so very much, I really appreciate it. Please keep well, and thank you for everything that you have done for me, and for all the other people that you help - the way you work is so beautiful and valuable.
