As a solo... not sure I fancy an organised travel holiday.
If I want to travel, I just load the car, &...
which doesn't get me mixing with people.
Think I'd prefer an activity holiday, & treat the 'social' side as a bonus.

I'm no help:laugh:

I do need to get a new tent this year.
It will be big enough for two:blush:

a tent and car sounds a plan and fun if the weather good
seriously thinkimg of doing the train thru europe and hostelling tho just would need to plan well

Organisations such as Spice run activity type holidays. I've not been on any, so I haven't any first hand experience.

The good think about solo travelling is that it has the potential to be such a confidence boost. I've not done it yet, but I'm starting to plan for something in 2013.

Hi Kate

I have been on a spice holiday and others on wiki will hopefully chip in with any experiences they have had.

I had a great group of people to travel with and had a good time. Travelling this way may be more cost effective if you are thinking hotels as you can share rooms on a same gender basis. If you are thinking hostels then spice will be very expensive in comparison as they tend to target budget to mid priced hotels.

Anything goes though in spice so if you wanted to go off and do your own thing instead of the planned group activities during the holiday then it really is not a problem. It,s very easygoing and it does mean you get to dine every evening with the group etc.

Exodus is another company that seem to do some proper traveller holidays. I have heard good things about exodus but never travelled with them, although will do this year.

All the best for your holiday plans

A friend of mine travels with a small company called Gecko, and has been all over the place (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand). I think they're quite expensive though.

I've so far only done a Spice weekend but it was great. Companies like Solo do singles holidays and several people who have done them have told me how good they are - not cringeworthy at all.
