Court first appointment

Hi, does anyone have any advice to give me regardng settlement of finances.
Every proposal i have put forward has been declined and it seems my stbx is determined to have her day in court.
Small amount of equity to be divided overall, i would say under 50k yet ex wants to spend thousands using a solicitor to go through the court process.
Any thoughts anyone on how to reach the end with my sanity in tact would be appreciated.

To be honest when you have someone who flatly refuses to be reasonable you just have to leave it to the judge, in some fairly rare cases a judge can make one person pay the others legal bill or adjust the settlement to reflect their behaviour.

With such a small amount of equity the judge will want this settled asap, if your ex refuses then they face the possible consequences.

Would it be the case that ex''s solicitor has advised her to take it through the court process to get some finality or would it be she is demanding it goes before the judge and the solicitor is just following his client''s instruction?? Does not make any sense to me at all.

I doubt it Coast, you see one of the problems solicitors have is that they are instructed by their client, so the solicitor could say lets not do this, or this will waste money, but the client can just ignore that advice and instruct they plow on regardless.
