i thought the other day about how good micheal crichton's jurassic park was when i read it when i was a lot younger! so i went out and bought it and my god, its just as good now! still 50 times better than the film!

Not read it but books always seem better than the film to me. You can get so much more detail across.

Books are better every time! Can't think of one film that was better than the book. They always seem to leave out so much in the films - even if they are good.

I am a big fan of Cormac McCarthy and there are films of a few of his books. I read his last book, The Road, soon after it was published and really enjoyed it. Then I saw the film and loved it too. I watched it several times over the years. Sometimes it is best not to expect the film to be what the book is and enjoy the film on its own right being aware that is based on the book.

i agree that many films would be better than the book, but i dont often get time to read, where as obviously a film is complete in a couple of hours! i can also see the attraction that a book would prolong the experience, almost adding more anticipation, maybe i should try to read more instead of being a man of convienience!

I had to read Independence Day once, yes the one with the aliens. One of the worst books ever.

i didnt know there was an independance day book! Also i noticed you said you had to read it? If you are a victim of "force reading" there are many help centres and advice lines that could help you :-}
