Hi there. Firstly I must state why i am typing this message. I feel let down by the whole system. i haven't seen my daughter for 18 months and because of my ex partners lies (this is obviously my view and my ex has her own agenda, i'm not asking for anyone to take a view) i have spent the best part of 18 grand so far and have had 2 directions hearings (which my ex didn't attend) and 2 fact finding hearings that have both been adjourned. The last fact finding hearing lasted a full day but was adjourned on the basis the judge said 2 days wasn't enough and said we have to wait a further 5 months with a 4 day hearing instead (the first hearing was a 1 day hearing but adjourned because of lack of time and was given a 2 day berth). the judge was under the impression that this whole case was being publicy funded and wasted no time in delaying proceedings. when told AFTER he had adjourned the case it was indeed privately funded he changed his tune but admitted either way that it was too late to do anything further and kept the date 5 months down the line. i never knew things would get as messy as they have. all i wanted was to see my daughter on a more regular basis and now my ex is dragging up situations that supposedly happened 2 years before our daughter was even born. it's destroying my life and the people that are close to me as well. is there any kind of support group for this kind of thing because i'm getting to the poitn of not knowing which way to turn. i'm very quickly running out of money and another 4 day hearing is going to cost me a fortune which i don't have which means i will have to now repreesnt myself as a LIP. why does it take the system so long to try and get to the bottom of these matters? sorry to burden anyone with my problems but i needed to jot something down as i've let this situation build up inside me for too long. Thanks

I'm sorry to point out that Fathers 4 Justice disbanded a year ago; although the website is still up it isn't taking any new members. There are a few copy-cat organisations with similar names but I'd steer clear.

The fathers' rights movement in the UK is generally in disarray, destroyed from without by government inaction and infiltration and from within by those who failed to understand what it was they were fighting for.

I'd say the best advice and support currently available is on this site, and if you can be more specific I'm sure there are those here who would help you. Although daunting, representing yourself is a much better option than using a solicitor, though I'd suggest you find a McKenzie to advise you.

Unfortunately the system is as it is, not least because so few will actually stand up to it. It is dysfunctional, ineffective and exceedingly slow. CAFCASS is in some sort of terminal meltdown, but as it has been like that since its inception it is unlikely to change; no one is applying any pressure on it to change.

I wish I could be more positive, Bobby, but at least you know there are others in the same situation and who sympathise with you.

Elle. Thankyou. that has made me feel a little better. i know i'll never give up. problem i've got now is that her case is being funded by the maintenence i pay her every month and i have now run out of money and will have to represent myself. i'm dreading doing this..
