Surely the judgement is delivered at the final hearing itself? so you should know what is decided? Is it only the written judgement that you are waiting for?

On lengthy cases the Judge will prepare the judgment after the hearing and deliver it verbally on a future date or hand it down in writing.

When judgments run into hundreds of pages it is not unusual for a delay of weeks of months as the Judge has to find the time to do the work, the judgment has to be typed and checked and then sometimes delivered to the parties in draft form for comments.

Thanks for your responses, the judge did not say at the final hearing either way what his decision was so we aer waiting to find out who the children will live with for the majority of the time.

I will chase the court again today, will let you all know when we have a decision.

10 weeks tomorrow since our final hearing and still no judgement has been recieved from the courts!

both sides solicitors have written letters chasing it and still nothing! when the solicitor rang the court and spoke to someone in the judges chamber they said he had several judgements to write and that we would just have to wait!

cant believe how long it has taken, its so frustrating. We have def decided to put a formal complaint in once everything has been finalised.

rachel,

It is a common response when legally represented to be told by the court office to go through your solicitor. That this will incur additional cost at a time when you least need to be throwing away money is a nonsense that I addressed with the court office manager. Some court office staff are not helpful to the public until their boss is informed!
