I am self employed, divorced and have a CO that says I will pay child support at CMA rates. I have forwarded an email from my accountant saying what my taxable income was to the ex to show the figure I will use in the CMA calculator. The ex says this is not good enough and is wanting to see my fully itemised accounts to prove my income. Do I have to send my full accounts or would an SA302 be good enough as I think what I spend on stationary, PPE, equipment etc is now none of her business. Any advice happily received. Thanks

How long has the court order been in place?

Has court said what evidence you need to supply?

Since March this year and no it doesn't specify what proof is needed. It just says payments in line with CMA calculations.

Tell her that you feel that you have provided sufficient evidence and leave it at that.

As you say, what you have spent on PPE etc is irrelevant.

After 12 months either of you can apply to CMS and end the court order if you’re unhappy with it.

If the order says you will pay in line with CMS, iis CMS who will have to be satisfied with your proof of income. It is open to her to ask them to deal with the matter (although a fee would be involved if payment is made through them). Remember that CMS rate is a minimum so you can always pay more on a voluntary basis.

As you are self employed perhaps you could agree to pay a monthly amount that can be 'topped up' if there is profit in the business over and above what you have drawn in income. This could be calculated annually.
