I sort of see your point you are worried that he will blame you for not being able to take your daughter away, and you will become the bad guy in your daughters eyes.

Ummm not sure, I was going to suggest explaining to your daughter that you are trying to get him to commit to dates but at 4.5 years she is far too young.

I don''t think there is really an answer here.
