I''m sure i will get all health information.
What annoys me is how she changed their registered home address and now i cant change it back.
I wasn''t phoned when she changed it.

The difference is your wife just informed the doctor of a change of address whereas you are asking for information. In these circumstances GP surgeries will sometimes inform the other parent that disclosure has been requested so that the other parent has the opportunity to produce any court orders or apply for one if the disclosing of the information would be inappropriate. Here in Scotland doctors'' guidelines recommend doing just that. If no court order is produced the GP has then covered their back and may release information as long as it''s in the best interests of the child and doesn''t disclose anything about third parties.

As I said above, if there is a dispute about where the children live it is a family law issue rather than one for the doctor to sort out.

I dont think you are getting my point Fiona, though i do appreciate your time and help.

When i take my youngest to his appointment at the end of the month i will request an address change then. Just like his Mum did.

Shouldnt be a problem should it?
They changed it for her (no questions asked), so they should do for me.

I think changing it back will be a problem. Usually either parent can notify the doctor of a change of address but GPs shouldn''t enter into the disputes about the address where the children live.

Doctors aren''t going to change the address depending on which parent they see every time the child has an appointment. If it has been agreed that children live equally in to homes the GP would need both addresses. As I said above if you and and your ex don''t agree about where the children live it is a family law matter.

What does it matter what address they are registered at? I assume when your child starts school they will be registered at you''re ex wife''s address too, do you have a problem with this also? You say your wife has used you for child care for the last 3 years while she has worked, I would say that you have taken responsibility for the child you have and although you split have done what''s in the best interest of the child so both parents can work.

If you have 50/50 care and this has happened for a long time she may threaten all she likes but the odds of her changing this is small (according to my solicitor anyway). Children have to be registered somewhere but as long as you get any info you need I don''t see the issue, yes she''s been sneaky by not letting you know and I can understand your annoyed but is this such a big deal apart from that? :)

You are probably right Felixstowe. I might be over reacting slightly but when things are done sneakily behind my back, I do tend to worry. I was so upset with how the surgery was speaking to me. They made me feel like a criminal.
Me - hello can you confirm that my children still registered at my address.
Receptionist - we will call you back this afternoon.
Me - why is that?
Receptionist - we will call you back this afternoon.
Me - I''m confused, can you just not tell me or something?
Receptionist - we can''t talk to you now.

2 minutes later phone rings
Receptionist (ringback confirmed) - can we speak to mrs_?
Me - she doesnt live here
Receptionist- ok bye

Do you think the receptionist called me back in the afternoon?

There are better ways to deal with these matters. Basic people skills and decency would have helped.

This left me feeling shut out. I''m the one who hold the boys red books and took them to all of their mmr jabs and other appointments.
