Can I reclaim court fees from ex?

I recently enforced the Consent Order that my ex had refused to comply with. We went back to court and the Judge forced him to comply. It has cost me approximately £2,000 in legal fees since there were two hearings. Can I pursue my ex for costs, and if so, how do I go about it?

You have to ask for an order for costs at the end of the hearing. Did you obtain an order for costs? If not, you are probably too late.

Thank you Charles. I appreciate your reply. The Judge allowed set another court hearing for July in order to give my ex time to submit an application for part of the consent order that he wants to contest. (I thought he would be out time for this since the consent order was drawn up 20 months and he was aware of the part he wished to contest at the time of the agreeing to the consent order). However, the Judge allowed him extra time and the Order says that costs are ''reserved.'' I am not sure that I understand this. I assume it to mean that costs will be decided on at the next hearing in July?

You are correct, ''reserved'' means deferred to a later date. It does also tend to mean that the judge is sitting on the fence as far as the issue of costs goes. If your ex continues to muck about, a costs order will be made but if he plays ball the reserved order is likely to lapse.

Thank you Charles. That is kind of you. It drives me insane though! That I have had bear the costs because he wouldn''t comply. Where is Justice??
