So, I am the Petitioner, my ex husband the respondent. I am divorcing him on the grounds of unreasonable behaviour (in reality an affair that he never admitted to).

I requested in the initial Petition that he pay my costs, as I am raising a baby alone, and have now had to leave my job. He suggested 50/50, I maintained that he pay my costs.

I have since changed solicitors and am in the handover process with a new company.

Just received a letter from my old solicitor saying that we have a date for the Nisi, and since my ex is still disputing costs, that I need to attend court, and be represented by my new solicitor.

As my new solicitor hasn''t even seen my file yet, there is no point speaking with her and clocking up more fees...but my old solicitor, rightly so has offered no assistance.

I have been on hold to the court for about an hour in the hope that they will offer me some advice about what to do...just had to hang up as baby woke up.

but does anybody have any ideas what I need to do? do I have to go to court??

Help please!!!

When costs are disputed you should do as the letter says, attend, the judge will listen to arguments for and against and decide who should pay what, if you don`t attend chances are your application for costs will be dismissed.
