Hi all,

On the form ES1 you have to enter the 'duration of marriage'.

How do I calculate this? Is it from Wedding day to separation? Or wedding day to Decree Nisi? Obviously haven't got the Decree Absolute yet.

TIA

I am not sure there's a hard and fast rule on this. I guess if the marriage broke down and you lived separately it ended then even if the divorce petition etc happened later.
Technically the marriage only ends when it's dissolved. I imagine some people would want to use the latest possible date to make the marriage look longer in the belief it will strengthen the financial claim.

My Solicitor has put from the date of the marriage to the date of separation.
