Is there any mortgage on the property? If so, how big is it?
Is the house in joint names or your sole name?
How long did you own it before marriage? How much did you put into it?

With 2 beds you could potentially take a lodger which would help with bills.

I agree that the disparity in incomes, his savings and larger pension make it more likely you would be able to retain the FMH. The answers to the above questions may help.

It is, of course, possible - at least in theory - of your ex and you to do a deal whereby you keep the house in lieu of maintenance.

It would be unusual for a husband to be left with no interest in the marital home at all. But it's not impossible.

Are you satisfied though that you can pay the outgoings on the house if you do not receive any maintenance ?

Hi thanks for replies.

I could just about afford outgoings on my own,
(I would not feel safe with a lodger and besides the house is so in need of DIY and repair no one would pay to live here!)

House still has 35000 left (10years)
I had house 10 years before we were together.
House/mortgage in my name only.

It just seems to make sense to have NO maintenance paid and me, and I just stay put and ex to go with own savings and own pension and take half of stuff from house (we don't have much)

I just cant see how I would be able to give ex any money, I have no savings and there is no actual way of me finding or funding any money...

I'm at a real loss as to what to do.
