I am not sure what info to provide in terms of housing. Our mortgage is payed each month from my husbands current account. Do I use this mortgage amount to calculate my annual mortgage requirement for housing on form E? We both still share the marital home which we own jointly and it has not been decided whether it will be sold yet?

I cannot see how I can estimate a different if we sell and both downsize?

Thank you

In basic terms your housing need is calculated on your needs for yourself and any dependent children. If there is only you then that would be a one bedroomed place. There are local authority guidelines on how many bedrooms you require if you have kids depending upon ages and sex.
So your housing needs may be met (if alone) by selling the property...dividing the money ..and taking a small mortgage on something suitable like a one bed flat.
Housing ''needs' do not however have to be ownership. It can be a rented flat (or as appropriate bed wise).
Look around for costs of buying versus renting flats to come up with an equation.
