In the Divorce Calculator, do I put children in if they are over 18?
I know the calculator is a rough amount but it gives different results for number of nights with parents without putting in their ages?
Thanks

Ignore the calculator - it simply crunches numbers and doesn't factor in the many variables that should be taken into account which may affect a financial settlement.

If you can supply the information below, then people here will be able to give you a better, rounded idea of what would be fair in your particular situation:

our respective ages;

The number of children you have and their ages;

How many nights the children spend with each parent;

The length of your marriage and any period of pre marriage cohabitation;

Your respective incomes;

Your respective outgoings;

Your assets - both soley held and joint;

Your liabilities.

Children over 18 still have housing needs, esp if they are studying and still living at home. This is something that needs to be considered when looking at dividing the finances.

Children are 19 and 20 and both at university.
Will be supporting both of them and happy to pay support to spouse if they wish to stay with them until they finish uni although they will only be home for max 3 months of the year
Would like children to be with me as much as possible.
Our ages are both 58
Married 17 years
Cohabiting 8 years previous so total 25
Incomes 48000 and 35000 respectively
Assets 2m
Debts 0.4m
All we wanted to know, will the children who are now adults, affect the split of equity?
Or would there be a maintenance order until finished uni?
Or would it be up to us to support them as best we could?
We both wish to support them as best we can.
thank you
