The first question is what do you each need.
If you can be housed and have a reasonable income with a 50:50 split of everything that is clearly matrimonial that is the likely outcome. She would be in a position to obtain a mortgage so this too would be a factor that could support a departure from equality if needed.

You would need her pension information and an actuary's report to work out how to equalise incomes in retirement. It may be worth asking for calculations excluding prematrimonial pensions accrual.

If however 50:50 doesn't provide enough capital, her inheritance may come into play. It is seen as a resource she can use to meet housing needs. There are circumstances in which it can be seen as part of the matrimonial pot depending on whether it has been mingled with family finances.

Once you have all the figures it may be worth booking a fixed legal financial consultation available via this site.

How much is a one bed home near you and could you get two of those for £750k?

When was the £300k inherited and what has happened to it? Has it been combined into the marital pot or has it always been held separately?

Why is income going from £35k to £50k in two years? How do you know this will definitely happen?

Why are you retiring? Is there an option to continue? When will you qualify for state pension?
