I am the respondent in an uncontested amicable divorce.

We completed all the papers by ourself so far, with some (free) advice and lots of research

The Decree Nisi was granted 4 weeks ago leaving two main things to sort
a) financial settlement
b) Decree Absolute (easy, just a fee)

For a) we believe we have something workable, fair (I''ve posted on one of the other forums), and not especially complex.

We are going for a "Clean Break" so need a Consent Order made up.

We''d like to sort things out quickly as our house is for sale and once we get an offer we need to start making more financial commitments (or at least start the process) ie mortgage, offer on another property etc

So far we''d considered seeing a solicitor each & try to discuss/agree quickly. Then we figured "collaborative law" may be the best approach to thrash things out quickly

Finally I came across some firms offering a more DIY approach. In particular an offering of a managed divorce+consent order at around the £300 mark sounded interesting.

Reasonable? even though we''ve done the rest ourselves (have copies of paperwork)?

I should add that I have agreed to pay child support exactly in line with CSA guidelines. This was stated to the court when I responded back to the divorce petition. (and we now have nisi) Would this be formalized in the consent order?

These DIY services are for agreed divorce and financial agreements, they will not advise on what would be fair, it''s beyond the fixed price service, advice as to what would be fair costs heaps of money and requires disclosure from both parties.

Be careful though, research any service first, but above all make sure it is managed by a real solicitor, or legal exec.

If its an expert case manager avoid it like the plague, anyone can call themselves an expert case manger, it means nothing at all.
