Hey everyone. I married an american in the USA about 19 years ago ( I will be 60 next year). We have spent two year before I cam back to the UK. I'm at a loss of both avenues and fianances because he is saying that I have to physically be there and I said that I will start a petition here as he is stalling, lying and then just yesterday said to me that he had not gone ahead with filing at the court (in a state he lives in). I have little finances and no assets, we have one child who is almost 18 ( she lives with me in the UK). He wont tell me where he resides and only chooses at time any info relating to a divorce. Any advice is very welcome and thank you .

If you have an email address, that may be sufficient for the petition to be served so you can progress the divorce here. Settling finances may be tricky if there are no UK assets. You would need legal advice from a specialist in divorce involving assets outside the jurisdiction.

Hi hasenoughnow,

Thank you for you response. I want nothing in the form of assets from him and he sure cant get anything from me.

Do I go through the Gov site to get the ball rolling?
