Hi, would appreciate any feedback regarding my situation where I live in Dubai as a UAE resident on my own, however have received proceedings to divorce from my wife of 6 years who remains in the UK. I have started to search locally however not sure if I have to respond via a UK solicitor or from one in Dubai. Search for info so far has proved un succesful. Many thanks for any help / advice.

Hi,

Sorry you have not had a response so far. Your options are:

1. Complete the papers yourself and return them - I trust so far what you have received is the petition and acknowledgement? If so that form is realtively easy to do;

2. Engage a solititor in the UAE with Engligh family law knowledge. There is a list here:
ukinuae.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-n.../if-you-need-lawyer/

3. Engage a solicitor here who can deal with you via telephone and email.

Hi there,
I am currently going through the same thing, and my spouse is based out of the UAE- they're in the U.K. I am here with my kids.

So far I have filed my case here because it's much quicker to get a judgment in comparison to the U.K. I'm already on track to get a divorce and i'm so positive that I've made the right decision.

My lawyer here (in Dubai) is called Stef. 0545719491, i'm not sure if I can share their details on here or not..

The post you’ve replied to is nearly 16 years old so it’s probably long since finalised.
It may be worth changing your username to something less recognisable if you are currently using your real name.
