Hi I have today received a divorce petition from my husband great on top of all the stress we are under anyway. We have been separated for 9 years after he had an affair(2011). Stupidly I did nothing at the time TBH I am still emotionally destroyed from it even after this length of time. He moved away and I could not afford to pay the mortgage so the family home was sold at the worst time possible in the height of the most recent recession. The little money there was split, however due to a terrible solicitor I was left with a lot of household bills etc that were outstanding.

I subsequently found out he had gone on to buy another property (2015) I was out of work again due to the recession and tbh depression at that time and currently live in a council property. In the petition he has requested a financial order which as I understand is to stop any future claims being made. My question is all be it a long winded way of getting to it is

1.If I agree to the divorce petition on line do I then get to request a financial order as it only gives me option to agree or defend on the gov.uk website.

2. Can I make a claim against the property he has subsequently purchased.

thank you.
