Renting off new partner during divorce was created by Elkman70
Hi,

My wife and I are going through a divorce at present following her adultery.

I have found a new partner too and need somewhere new to live whilst the divorce goes through. I understand that co-habitation could have a negative impact. However, my new partner has a number of properties and I could rent one under a formal tenancy agreement. Could this still impact any financial settlement negatively?

Thanks in anticipation.

I thought long and hard about this one !
FYI, I am a retired solicitor, and all my antennae start alarm bells
ringing.
I'm also a one property BTL landlord.
You see, sir, your problem is ( or could be ) that it may be alleged that the arrangement was collusive. Yes, I know, it may not be, and probably isn't.
But that isn't going to prevent the other side making allegations of this nature, and the stage is set for a long ( and probably expensive )
fight in Court, and I doubt if it's worth the hassle.
That's just my view. I have no financial interest whatever in giving this advice. It's just that, as a near 80 year old wrinkly, I would be very cautious.
