Decree Absolute was created by AshleyM
Has anyone applied for Decree Absolute recently and can give me an idea of how long it took please? My consent order was sealed within 7 weeks ( much quicker than I thought) and I applied for absolute end of April, I phoned the court last week and was advised it was with the judge as it was more than 12 months after Nisi it needed to be reviewed? My solicitor sent an accompanying letter, I thought it would only take a week or 2 but has now been 3 weeks anyone applied recently ?

It depends which court is dealing with the application. Normally they get turned around within a couple of weeks but all resources are being diverted to more urgent matters.

A colleague of mine called the court for an update on an application and the court did confirm that the application for decree nisi had been processed but the issue of the order could take a further 6-8 weeks.

On the same basis your decree absolute might have been authorised but you may have to wait for a while to discover that this is the case.
