In Aug last year I petitioned a divorce with a high Street solicitor and it got to the point of serving papers on my husband. Long story short after much emotional blackmail I put the divorce on hold, settled my £800 bill and the file was archived. I’ve just reopened my file (had to put £300 on account to facilitate this) and my initial correspondence states I’m looking at legal fees of between £600-£800 plus vat. They quoted £750-£1500 plus vat to draft a consent order with no financial disclosure. To be honest I thought as all the work was mainly done previously it would not cost that much in legal fees but I’m this far down the road with them so no point changing solicitors to one from this website ? Also can I get a consent order drawn up from a solicitor from this site or would I have to use the same solicitor ? Thanks in advance.
The fixed price services on this site are way lower than a high street solicitor. You could do the whole divorce and consent order for not much more than you just paid on account. Have you already paid the court fee of £550??
The consent order is separate from the divorce. You can instruct the solicitor you have to deal with the divorce only. The consent order can be booked through us as can cost effective support and advice to ensure that any agreement is fair.
Have a look at the services tab and/or give the helpline a csll.
Thanks I paid £800 in the summer last year & served papers which were on hold whilst we tried to make things work.
I’ve just put £300 on account to get file out of archives.
No court fee paid yet but I feel I need to probably see it through with these solicitors even though they are quoting £600 to £800 new legal fees for this as surely I can get that capped as the work is mainly done ???
So I can get consent order done here ? Regardless of who acts for me in the divorce ? Kind Regards
