My partner and his ex have now reached an agreement on the finances.Unfortunately his solicitor twice sent incorrect draft Consent Orders to the other side and this caused delays and complications and has meant he has lost out on the division of some assets.

For this reason could he get a different solicitor to draw up the Consent Order than the one he is currently using? He has already paid for the draft and all that now remains is the drawing up of the final document, signatures and sending to court. He is reluctant to pay the current solicitor £700 for the privilege after she has messed up twice already?

The short answer is yes - you can change solicitors if you believe it is in your interests to do so.

There is always a cost/overhead when changing, as the new solicitor has to get up to speed with the case and of course you are not guaranteed that they will not also make a mistake at some point.
