I live with ex, though we are getting divorced. He has stopped paying anything towards the children’s needs. He is funding his legal fees from what he used to transfer to me. I don’t qualify for a loan or credit card and am therefore unable to pay for a solicitor. Can I apply to the court to ask him to pay towards my legal fees? Anyone else been in this position?

You may be able to apply for a Legal Services ORrder - divorce.wikivorce.com/library/divorce-fi...s-what-are-they.html

Generally speaking, unless your ex is very wealthy, you would be expected to exhaust all other avenues of financing your legal fees, and if you still can't afford a solicitor and you are not entitled to legal aid, then you may need to consider representing yourself. There are low cost services on Wikivorce for people who need help and support while self-repping through divorce.
