Hi.
New to the group, so here we go.

Background.
My wife left me for another man and now I am left holding the fort. The background information (from my perspective is):
- Ex had an affair and then left the home to be with him.
- I pay the mortgage.
- I pay the bills.
- I have two older sons (18 and 23).
- I buy all of the groceries.
- fund the family home.
- Ex has an IVA and debt issues.
- Ex is not on the mortgage.
- Ex is not on the deeds.
I am now being put under pressure to sale the house to hand over money. An agreement was not achieved at MIAMS, but Ex has moved this to a solicitor.

Question:
Am I still able to open up dialogue to agree a face to face financial agreement, or is it best to leave it with the courts?

How far apart are you on the agreement?

Probably a lot depends on your respective financial status and what assets/liabilities are available to split.

Technically you are both currently housed and the "children" aren't classed as dependents so court is effectively going to be looking at what two single people need after however long your marriage and relationship was to be "fair". Will probably be costly and neither of you will get what you want

It’s always better to enter into dialogue and come to your own agreement.

A final hearing and decision from the court will be a long costly process.
