What are reasonable grounds (if any) for non attendance at a Pre Trial Hearing prior to a Final Hearing. I am long term unemployed with a serious medical condition requiring surgery and am unable to afford legal counsel to represent me. I will however submit full updated disclosure prior to the Final Hearing. I am willing for the judge to make a ruling in my absence.

If I do not attend in person what are the typical consequences.

The point of a pre trial hearing is to make sure everything needed has been done so the hearing itself will be fruitful. There may well be things that are outstanding that need to be resolved before the hearing takes place. If you are struggling to attend you could ask the court (copy to other side) for permission to attend via video. Failure to attend may result in costs consequences if something vital to FH does not get sorted ahead of the hearing - or could mean something important to your case is missed out.
You definitely need to attend the FH but it really should only go ahead if there's no chance of resolving things by agreement.
