I filed for divorce in early 2022 but didn't take it any further at that stage, as I knew that trying to negotiate the financials, was going to be very unpleasant.

I now feel it's time to continue with the process, but can anyone advise what happens if you leave it dormant in the system for too long? I would like to see if we can agree to a financial settlement amicably.

How far did you get? Is there a conditional order? If there isn't you should be able to apply for one.
Financial settlement is separate to the actual divorce. You need to start with full financial disclosure and an assessment of your respective needs. mediation may help you to reach agreement.
