Pm''s are private, no one can access them not even moderators, only the sender and recipient can.

Wiki will always have a problem, it lives on a shoe string, funding is always a problem, donations don''t exist, well from what I can gather very few and far between, so wiki will never be able to compete with sites that exist to make money, they can afford to spend loads on advertising, if the word can be spread by social media, and it helps a few others surely it''s a good thing?.

I do use FB, and in the last few years have spoken to a few friends of friends, and saved them a few quid.

I think most people who use wiki would agree it''s very useful particularly if you cannot afford a lawyer, so why not spread the word?.

I still think there is some confusion.

Wikivorce is a public site - it always has been.

If you Google ''McKenzie Friend'' or ''Spousal Maintenance'' for example - this site with all the relevant threads and posts will pop up.

The adding of these buttons hasn''t opened anything up, all information has been accessible by guests (non-members) anyway.

The point of the social media buttons is to simplify sharing the fantastic expertise we have here.

People would not be identified, we don''t write names and addresses and you''d be amazed how many people identify with situations - how many times have we read - "This is exactly what happened to me" or "Your ex is the same as mine"

The primary function of of the social media sharing buttons is to share the information pages - the Wikivorce guides, Magazine articles, library articles, or other information-based posts. Members should remember that the forum is only one part of Wikivorce, and that the majority of our pages are information pages as described above.

The purpose of Wikivorce is to provide people with the information they need to help them through a serious relationship break-up - for free. By sharing information pages, we will be reaching more people, and therefore helping more people by giving them access to the information they may need.

We do not need to drive additional traffic to the site for any particular purpose - nor do we receive any monetary return for each "click" - to suggest otherwise is somewhat cynical. As Dukey says, sharing Wikivorce information via social media helps get that information to a much wider audience.

Being able to share information pages - or indeed forum threads - is not new - anyone can share a Wikivorce page by simply copying the URL and then posting it elsewhere. I have come across numerous other forums where Wikivorce pages have been shared with the posters on those particular forums (before the new sharing buttons were embedded into the site). I have been sharing guides and articles on Twitter and LinkedIn for a few years now as well as articles I have written which I have posted on Defrolaw (a blogging site for legal professionals) - which has lead to professionals becoming aware of us (and in turn, supporting us and signposting their clients to us), and allowing people who need that information but didn''t know where to find it to have access to it.

Will forum posts be shared? Probably - but probably no more than they were before (which was very infrequent). Members remain responsible for the content of their posts and should always bear in mind that Wikivorce is a public site and that anyone can access it and read the forum. The new sharing buttons don''t change the function or the openness of the forum. If you want to reassure yourself about the type of information that is currently being shared by Wikivorce on social media sites, then have a look at our Facebook Page . I doubt very much that there will be a high-volume flurry of sharing forum posts on social media sites.

Being able to share relevant information on social media, and thus helping many more people sits exactly with the purpose of Wikivorce.
