Hi All,

I have noticed that WikiXmas has been deleted from the events page, although not certain I am presuming that this is no longer happening.

I know that people want to get together during the Christmas period and want to offer my services in helping to organise any local get togethers; even if that is just helping you to put the event on the events page.

I am sure that the London Area group could come up with something as a starter! Father of Three are you listening?????

Not sure how the Essex meet went but sure they can come up with something too?

As for you lot up NORTH, sure there can be a few little get togethers organised up there pre-Christmas!!!!!

Anyone interested in getting together with other Wiki Members pre-Christmas why not answer this thread and start the ball rolling.

"It is good to talk" so the BT advert used to say, lol.

Anyone that needs any help in organising an event in their local area just send me a private message and I will do what I can to help.

I would suggest keeping things informal and not relying on booking somewhere other than maybe a table as I have found from previous events that even if people say they will attend (and some even pay ticket money) they don't always turn up or let you know.

Look forward to seeing some pre-Christmas events on the events page soon.

xx Sarah xx

PS. If you are in the East Anlgia area or don't mind travelling, I am arranging a lunch on Sunday 30th November as a pre-Christmas get together. It is already listed on the events page.

Sarah,

We have had a few discussions recently about the Xmas do and several things began to work against having one single Xmas party:
- choosing a date was difficult, the advertised date of the weekend before Xmas was inconvenient to many
- having a single location would mean a long trip for some just before Xmas, not ideal
- we were having trouble identifying a suitable location as hotel function rooms plus hotel rooms get more costly than for previous wiki events.

We came to the same conclusion as you.....i.e. it seems better to have perhaps four local events.

So......the suggestion is:

- Wiki Xmas evenings out held at several locations:
---> London (definitely) - Sarah/FO3 would you organise/host this one?
---> Manchester (definitely) - Mish/Shezi would you organise/host this one?
---> Southampton (TBC) - Ian/Angel/Hadenough - between us could we host/organise this one?
---> Essex (TBC)
---> Newcastle/Leeds (TBC)

If anyone wishes to be the local host for one of these events please send a message to Wikivorce team and Sarah (IKNOWNOW).

Sarah, thanks for your offer to help co-ordinate - that would be great.

Organisers (named above) - if you are up for this could you start by creating an event in the system, choosing a suitable saturday evening in Dec - even if we are light on detail at the moment - we can add that over the next week or so.

So peeps.....Look out for event listings in the event calendar.

Lets try to stagger them through December so that there is a good chance for everyone who wants to to attend.

Unlike previous wiki events these will not be pre-paid, but you will need to register to give the organiser an idea of numbers to make restaurant bookings.

Cheers
Ian

I can hear Saffy and Spooky et al screaming in my ear as I type. Think we also need to look at a few events south of London.

I will talk to Saffy about a pre-christmas event in the Devon / Cornwall area.

Also maybe Minniecat for a Hampshire area event if anyone is interested. Sure Metalraver would be up for a night out, lol.

Could people also think about whether they want these events mid week or on the weekend?????

Feel free to throw any ideas at me for these events.

xx Sarah xx

Seems like I was sending telepathic messages to Ian while I was writing my post, lol.

Hi Sarah

You know that I have organised a party at my house on 29th November, ok its to celebrate my divorce but I plan to put xmas decs up and also let fireworks off....sorry but cant arrange another party plus i`m also off to Germany on 12th Dec.

Angel had tried to get some interest from peeps on 6th Dec, this would have been ideal, but not enough interest was shown and that was planned for Birmingham which is fairly central.

Maybe a party in the new year would be good for Cornwall, but like you say Sarah, a lot of people say they are coming then don`t turn up and dont even have the good manners to let you know which I think is so rude.

I`m happy to arrange a meal in the somewhere in the South West and maybe a few wiki peeps can lend us some floor space or a bed depending on where it is in the south west as we range from Truro up to Exeter and Cardiff.

Hi to all in the South West and anywhere really. I have a suggestion for a meal...either lunch or dinner in Plymouth on Sat 6th Dec. I have looked at Beefeater Inns and they do a set xmas meal for £16.95, just an idea as there are lots of places in Plymouth.

Also we could get travel lodge rooms that sleep up to 3 for £42.

Link for Beefeater

Link for travel lodge

Let me know about Plymouth and we could go clubbing afterwards or find a nice bar.
