I am a diabetic but since divorce and living alone with kids who are both fussy eaters I am finding it hard to eat sensibly. My will power seems to have gone out the window. My blood sugars are becoming erratic with all the stress also which makes me tired and not want to eat properly.Have always had problems with food.We are eating lots of junk food and easily prepared foods as I am finding it hard to get inspired to cook for 2 fussy eaters and having no one else to say they appreciate my dinners.Any help, suggestions and guidance will help..

Have you considered joining a cookery class? You might feel more inclined to cook if you have just learnt a new tasty idea at a class. Or how about getting some cookery books from the library? You could get a cook book for you and your children to try together - your fussy eaters might feel like trying something new if they've helped to prepare it with you...

You need to take care of yourself, now more than ever. Your children need you to be strong to look after them. I'm sure the very last thing you or your children need is for you to be admitted to hospital after a particularly bad hypo through not controlling your blood sugars properly.

Look after yourself Townie, if not for you then for your children.

Take care x

I never used to cook properly as my ex was a good cook and made fun of me wanting to try. All I used to do was heat prepared food like pizzas and ready meals.

After she moved out I bought a few cook books and have done some very successful dishes....had a couple of disasters on the way too! LOL

I found the Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food book the most useful. The Minced Beef Wellington recipe is brilliant! I have also learnt to experiment and not be afraid to try things out.

I also found it good to involve the kids if possible. One evening my son volunteered out of the blue to cook a pasta sauce from scratch, he did a great job....and gave us a good laugh by licking his finger after chopping a chilli and having to drink 2 pints of water!

Good luck!
