Legal aid abuse

Hello there, I am new to this site, so please bear with me, I am hoping ''charles'' will reply as he seems to know his stuff. My partner and his soon to be ex are going through a very acrimonious divorce. She originally applied for legal aid but was told she earned too much money. Coincidentally since finding that out she gave up work and started to claim income support, which now entitles her automatically to legal aid. This is someone who has worked for years and all of a sudden has a childcare problem. I have heard of certificates being discharged or revoked due to deprivation of income or resources. Basically this is when someone intentionally deprives themselves of income or capital. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this or knew how long LSC take.

Yes that''s dodgy.. Also if she''s walked out of her job it might take a month or 2 but that IS claim will be revoked. I have second hand experience of that happening.

My ex. dil didn''t walk out of a job, but she she did not seek to renew her contract. She claimed income support on the end of one contract and continued to claim it until the divorce was finalised. She then took out a new contract.

I suppose that was her right and she will eventually have to pay it back and she got the marital home.

Just thought I would update this post. My divorce was finalised last week, yipee!! However that is not the reason for me updating. As you will see above my EX WIFE gave up work just before FDA, to obtain legal aid. Guess what, less than a week later, she is back at work!!!!
Soooooooo predictable, but yet so frustrating, probably because of people like her that legal aid is under such drastic reform....
