I am almost at the end of a divorce after over three years of process and when the judgement is read in August I would like to buy a house with my new partner. She is concerned that later down the line if I die or retire , then my ex-wife could make her/us sell the house to continue receiving maintenance. Is she right to be concerned?

Along with the Decree Absolute you also need a Consent Order to dismiss any potential future claims, so yes your partner has reason to be concerned, get a consent order or an order of court (judgement).

A consent decree would appear to require both parties to agree to the decree. As my wife has been difficult every step of the way even though she was the applicant, I think it unlikely that she would agree. Is there another method ?

You can apply to court to settle the issue.

How have you sorted the finances at the moment?

Do just leave it open because she could come back any time in the future and try to claim.

judgement arrives next month and i will have to pay a lump sum and monthly payments of maintenance at £1000 pm
