I originaly decided that i would try for a Clean Break from my STBX,as i thought this would be for the best..quiet life..move on quicker etc.
I was not going to persue SM,partly because i didn''t think i would get it from him and partly because i thought a clean break meant no SM.
So is a clean break, exactly that,no SM now or in the future.

Yes I believe that is what it means although I am no expert. If you are eligible for SM, which is hard to get, then you could try to capitalise it and offset it against other assets. However my ex was a high earner and I only work part time and the judge we had on the day told me that I had to get a full time job and no SM, although my barrister and solicitor thought that I would definitely be entitled due to the length of the marriage and the disparity in earnings and the fact that we had two children. So be careful!!

Hi

Would you mind letting me know how long you were married for? Why did the judge not award any spousal maintenance

Thanks
