Hi - can anyone offer any advice on this - after a nasty 3 and a half year divorce , I've finally reached settlement and have an order in place . As part of the order I have to give him spousal maintenance for the next 4 years (agreed in lieu of pension sharing).

I received the notification that the order had been agreed at the end of last month and set up the first payment to co-incide with my next (oct) pay as was advised by my solicitor this was reasonable.

Now he's had his money for October, I've had a letter from his solicitor threatening to take me back to court for breach of court order if I don't pay up and backdate for the whole of September as well (the order was dated 18th and I received it via my sols on the 27th) .

I don't know what to do - he's had so much already as I've agreed to a lot just to finally get away from a very long and unhappy marriage where his controlling behaviour was unbearable. I don't see why I should backdate it (there are other parts of the order I will benefit from that aren't being backdated so i feel I'm being fair and consistent across all issues. On the other hand, I could just pay the money because I don't want to go through courts and risk the costs of that. I feel like even now after all this time he continues to bully me and I feel sick with worry - Any thoughts appreciated

Unfortunately, your obligations depend on the terms of the order.
Without seeing it, we cannot advise you with any certainty.

Is it possible for y ou to send me a PM with a copy of the order ?
You can blank out the names, I don't need those.
