I'd really appreciate some help if someone knows the answer to this: I'm representing myself and about to agree a Consent Order which includes time limited maintenance (3 years) and also a Clean Break. I'm not clear when exactly the clean break takes effect - does it take effect immediately when the Order is signed/approved by the judge or does it take effect at the end of the maintenance term (in 3 years when maintenance will cease).

My understanding was that technically, (if i lose my job, become homeless etc..) I can apply for a variation of the Order at any point until spousal maintenance ceases but ex thinks the clean break means there can be no changes to the order once we've signed it.

Would be really helpful to have any advice on this
Many thanks!
