The BBC's Victoria Derbyshire show is looking are looking into the backlog of getting a divorce because of the amalgamation of smaller courts into bigger divorce courts around the country. A viewer originally flagged the problem, particularly with Bury St Edmunds. But having spoken to a number of law firms, the problems seem to be at a number of courts around the country.

They are looking for a case study. Someone who is tangled up in the system. Someone who has been affected by the lack of information about the progress of the divorce. Someone who has struggled to make contact, been left waiting on the phone for long periods, had documentation go missing; and as a result had health issues, financial issues, personal issues (we’ve heard of the stress causing people to be on anti-depressants and causing ill health and it causing stresses to children).

he film will appear ahead of a segment on the Victoria Derbyshire programme, ahead of a discussion, where they try and hold the government to account over the delays and problems.

If anyone who has been affected and would like to find out more, please send me a PM.

Note - I'm very pleased that this issue is being looked at, we've heard from so many on our forum of the exceptional delays they have experienced - 3 weeks and 6 days after the application to grant a Nisi for example.
