I have been seperated from my husband for 4 yrs and he is due to retire next year, he is a police officer. He has offered me a financial settlement, this gives me the home, without mortage, and him the pension. We have 3 kids (all aged around 19). If I gave someone the figures I have could someone tell me if it sounds reasonable?

Thank You.

It's best if you post the details rather than giving them to an individual as you will get an more objective answer, and someone may pick up on something that others miss. You may have somewhere to live but how will you support yourself through retirement? How big is the pension compared to the equity? Exactly how old are the children and are they in school/ Uni and for how much longer? The main points we need to know are:
Your respective ages;

The number of children you have and their ages;

How many nights the children spend with each parent;

The length of your marriage and any period of pre marriage cohabitation;

Your respective incomes;

Your respective outgoings;

Your assets - both solely held and joint;

Your liabilities.

Sorry, I know it's a lot but we have to consider the whole picture not just the pension and house.

Thank you. I do not have any figures for his pension but do know what he will receive in lump sum and annual amount. Where would I post the figures I have to?
