There''s only £60k equity in the house. How much is a Mesher order worth to him? He might get say 30% if he is lucky. Mesher order for £18k in 15 years time is probably not even worth the paper it''s written on. He would likely be better off to sign the house over to you on the provision that you do not claim spousal maintenance, and that you make best endeavours to release him from the mortgage. I think that is as good as it will get for him.

Seriously? Omg I feel like a b**** I mean, I hate the guy and everything, but I don''t want him to walk away empty handed. Thing is I don''t honestly think it would be 15 years, once I was back in work I can work my way back up again, increase my wages, increase the amount I could get a mortgage for and at least give him something......is 18k in 15 years time really worse than nothing?
Sorry, I guess I''m not looking for real answers now, just questions with no answers going round my head.
Thank-you for taking the time to reply. I''m off to look for a magic wand....

Personally I would rather have a Clean Break than £18k in 15 years time. That is a little over £1k a year, and that doesn''t even take inflation into account. Of course it is better than nothing, but the price of having that Mesher would be a permanent financial tie to his ex-wife. If it were me I would be prepared to give up the Mesher to have financial freedom.
