Hi, first hearing for Ancillary Relief approaching. Can anyone tell me if i can ask the judge at first appointment to approve the Absolute that day?
I am the respondent and my ex is the applicant in divorce. I can see no reason for her not putting in for the absolute as of yet, Nisi was granted october last year.
Currently ex is using a sol and i am self repping.
Thanks

Have you asked why she hasn''t? There might be a good reason. Commonly, the potential loss of pension rights would be one explanation.

Her pension is three times the size of mine. The pension in question is no longer being contributed into (my pension) since i have changed employers and currently has a cet value of appox 15k. Hers is in excess of 50k.
No pension sharing order will be sought by myself in respect of hers, not sure what she will do as she has ticked all boxes on form A.

The reason might be nothing more than that most solicitors leave DA until after the finances have been sorted as a matter of habit. It saves any potential negligence actions against them in the future.

I should say, that isn''t a good enough reason by the way.
