Can I change Lawyers??

looking for a bit of advice.

My current lawyer, who is very nice, is so busy it can take her upto 6 weeks to produce a letter to my ex''s lawyer after I have had an appointment with her.

Everything is taking so long and I feel like Im getting no where.

Question is, can I change lawyers?? She is a family lawyer aswell as a court lawyer, so each and every day she attends court every morning to deal with court issues and custodies.

I have legal aid for advice and assistance, can this be transferred to another lawyer.

Would there be any outstanding bills to be paid to my current lawyer if I was too move?

Im just wanting things to move as my ex, who left me for someone else, is purposely being obstructive.

I understand your frustration, in our case it took at least 10 months to write and receive a reply from the other side, although that was mainly due to my ex-husband''s procrastination.

In Scotland it is very difficult to change solicitors if you receive legal advice and assistance unless the solicitor leaves the firm, retires or dies. Also finding another solicitor who isn''t also busy to take on a legal aid case is problematic.

Sadly people''s expectation of a quick resolution is often optimistic and realistically it can take a year or so to sort out the finances and then divorce.
