I've just been represented at first hearing by possibly the worst direct access barrister ever. The other side's Barrister wiped the floor with him and managed to strike a ton of questions from my questionnaire but my guy never even looked at hers. I didn't even get to talk to him until a couple of hours prior to my first hearing and then it was a rush job to get a draft order in front of the judge. It felt like he was working for the other side!

Can anyone recommend a good DA Barrister I could move to please? Feel free to DM me with recommendations. Thanks.

You may be interested in our consulting service - which is a low cost way for litigants in person to get support on the document preparation during their court case.

The documentation that you now have to produce in the run up to the FDR is not as straightforward as the First Appointment preparation.

For clients using this service - Help With The Financial Process - we offer them the option to use a Direct Access barrister from a small selection of barristers that we work closely with and trust.

The advantage of this compared to the route you have taken so far is as follows:
- you have low cost access to an expert consultant for the whole period between now and the next hearing
- the consultant support will improve the overall quality of your document and bundle preparation
- you will gain more confidence and knowledge of the process
- the handover to the barrister is much better managed as our consultants work closely with this same small set of barristers month in month out, and have established a standard format of paperwork to be handed over
(it is much easier for a barrister who gets the same format of documentation on each case compared to the vary random piles of paperwork they get from untrained direct clients).
- we use these barristers in dozens of FDRs each years and get lots of feedback from clients which we use to monitor the quality of service we are getting from the barristers

If this is of interest please call our helpline on 01202 805020 or book a free appointment to discuss
