O.M.G. No more chat 24/7? It was that immediate response when I was at my lowest possible ebb in deciding the future of my married life that helped me cope, develop & be what I am today - OK, The Samaritans are ok for stressful & emergency situations too.

I would not have been able to talk anyone on the phone - too emotional. I never joined a chat room until wikivorce, before or since. Age a real factor in that, and increasingly I notice co-incides with the users of wikivorce chat. On the week I joined it was so friendly and non-judgmental.

In brief - it literally is the only media I have been comfortable using.

Maybe setting up a more clearly labelled set of chat rooms would make it easier to monitor where necessary, whilst maintaining the initial unconditional welcome that stopped me doing something unthinkable now - but was a real option on the night I logged in to wikivorce.

EG: NEW & NEED HELP? (monitored by mods)
SERIOUS CHAT (random checks by mods)
GENERAL ROOM (with mod disclaimer)
QUIZZES & FUN (random checks & ads)

was very sad to see it go too... surely they could have reduce the hours first to see how that went... a lot of people will be in the same boat as you and feel lost without it...

it was a great way of getting instant support as the worst part of all this divorce lark is feeling that you are the only one going through whatever trauma you are in at the moment of needing help...

Ian, I have read the reasons for closing chat, and added my twopenn'orth !
It is sad when a few idiots spoil a way for people genuinely in need of instant help on the divorce & separation front.

The samaritans are great, but not designed to build up a tailored netwrork of specific support & shared knowledge, in the way that wikivorce has been doing.
